About this Site

Oregon is a nice location in the world.  And it is a great place for someone who likes riding motorcycles – besides the nice geography and mild winters, it has a great assortment of paved and unpaved roads for one to enjoy riding just about any motorcycle type and suitable to any riding style.

Steens Mountain. September 2010.

In this space I will be reporting some of my rides in Oregon, as well as other states. But mostly it is about rides in Oregon. And I will discuss other subjects as well and as appropriate. I’m not too fanatical about writing, so you won’t find daily posts here. Maybe weekly.  I’m not a great writer either, but you will see nice photographs of nice locations, and photographs of motorcycles. And few action videos here and there.

Nice view of the Oregon coast line. September 18th, 2011

Here and then I get lucky and local dealers let me ride their demo bikes. To read about those reviews, click on “bike reviews.” There you will find reviews of BMW’s water-cooled R1200GS, the BMW R nineT, The Ducati Multistrada 1200 with the DVT motor, the MV Agusta Turismo Veloce 800 and a several other motorcycles.

Death Valley, March 2011

For personal notes and thoughts, where you will find any resemblance to something less superficial, click on “The Book“. I’ve been enjoying this area of this blog. If I would ever write a book out of this blog, it would probably be an edited version of this growing session of the blog. As it is now, when you click  on “The Book“, you will get the string of stories, from newest to oldest, a thread that resembles what I would like to have in my book.  Part autobiography, part a collection of stories, part descriptions of things I like, it is about my perspective in this world, on personal and other matters that are important to me.

The “Film Reviews” session is not a straight forward film review section.  But it covers the topic of films that are either connected to motorcycles or film locations I’ve been to while riding a motorcycle.

Thank you for stopping by!

Cesar

I just bought the same PP Multi and simply love it

Can you provide the details of the Pelican rear tail rack and mounting. I think it makes a great option. I need to buy a rack anyway so why not learn from one who has already done so. Eventually I will go with SW Motech or similar aluminum panniers and a top rack box, but for now a need a less expensive option

Many thanks and look forward to more adventure stories

        Hi Garry
I mounted the case on top of the Ducati Performance rack (but I wonder if it could be mounted on top of the four attachment points on the Multistrada rear rack). It could also have been mounted using one of Caribou’s universal mounting plates (although I think they stopped producing their smaller plate). Instead, I bought a set of four wing nuts and screws that start at the DP rack and go up and through the case. The wing nuts are hand tight (larger washers outside and inside the case to offer the plastic of the case some protection). In a couple of minutes I can remove the case without any tools. It is a very simple approach. Not perfect, as the wing nuts are visible inside the case and could damage things that lay on top of them with vibration on long trips. I will work on something to prevent that to happen.
        Hope that helps.

Good evening, this is a shot in the dark:
I’ve been searching the internet for years now for Doug Smith, the pianist from Yachats, Or who created ‘The Soul’s Voyage’ in 1997. From what I can gather from your blog, you may know this man. I lived in Waldort/Newport for 7 years and knew Doug. He gave me a free cd of his music. My wife created a prayer channel 2 years ago and used this music and has touched over 1 Million peoples lives, thanks to Doug and I have been trying to get him credit but can not find him. If I have searched hear in vain, please dissregard. You have a nice blog. if by chance fate has brought me on the right path, if you could pass on my email to Doug, it would be appreciated.

      Bless you

Neat stuff, Cesar. We’ve very similar tastes in bikes…I’ve also got a WRR, and am planning on buying an 800XC this spring for the longer trips.

Stumbled upon your blog upon seeing your YouTube video for the Great Basin bag on your 800XC. I’ve got their Fandango bag for my WRR, so appreciate the quality gear. You happy with the Great Basin on your 800XC? Any need for exhaust shielding?

    Bill

    • cesardagord says:

      Hi Bill,
I’m really happy with the Great Basin bag. It is larger than the Coyote bag, and I really like that, once I arrive at a destination, I can walk away from the bike with all my gear with me on one trip from the bike to the hotel or campsite.

No problems with shielding. The original exhaust has a shield (so does the Arrows exhaust), which protects the bag. I’m thinking about installing another exhaust (Leo Vince or similar) that are smaller than the OEM (or the Arrows for that matter) and I wonder myself if a smaller diameter will clear the bag and I won’t need a shield.

    Cesar,

When are you going todo a indepth review of the new multistrada dvt and compare it to previous versions and GS? I am surprised at lack proper road tests on this bike besides the press launch first rides. I remember Bike magazine doing massive tours to test the liquid cooled GS when it launched – new multi not significant enough?

    • cesardagord says:

      Hi MotoBell,
I’m working on getting a bike for a review of the new Ducati Multistrada DVT. Our main challenge comes from the local Ducati dealer not having a demo bike. I will make it happen! Also, I’m now working on narrated videos (video log) to be added to my reviews. Stay tuned, and thank you for your interest in my review.

Hey, Cesar…you’ve been quiet for awhile. Hope all’s well!

    Cheers,
    Rick

    • cesardagord says:

Hey Rick, thanks for checking on me. It is all good, just very, very busy. Between the holidays and work, not much time for riding or writing. I will be back from my last trip of January soon and will be around the “shed” for three entire weeks. I even managed to get a project bike during these busy times and I will be working on it during those three weeks. Thanks again! And stay tuned!

Hey, Cesar — not sure if you’re familiar with Sam Manicom, but I thought I’d share this with you. He’s speaking in Portland next week, and in Spokane in early June about his Africa travels. Sam’s awesome. I think you’d enjoy it.

Hey Rick, thanks for this note. Yes, I had seen some notifications about this presentation through the BMW store mailing list. Unfortunately I will be out of town on that date. Thanks again Rick!

    It got quiet here again!

    • cesardagord says:

Hey Rick, yes, very quiet… I’ve been riding, working on projects (meaning planning what to do), maintaining my motorcycles, and looking forward to a possible new motorcycle in 2019. I should do an update one of these days. Thank you for checking in with me!
